WHAT IS WISDOM?
It is the power of being able to judge correctly and then to choose the most appropriate course of action.
How simple and simultaneously difficult this life assignment might be and I know where the answers are - you already have them.
You simply haven’t been asking the right questions.
I facilitate a deep self-inquiry into your way of being.
Which parts of you are in the driver’s seat and how can you expand and tap into the underutilised parts of yourself?
I find emergent one-on-one work to be the most powerful way to bring about meaningful growth.
The key to success is consistency, commitment, curiosity and presence.
I combine my experience, with studies in psychology, philosophies and theories of Ontology, adult development, emotional literacy, neuroscience of change and leadership coaching.
MY STORY…
I am watching the sky change colour as the sun sets over the Colosseum in Rome. The hustle of tourists and sounds from the street begin to fade and all that is left is the glory of the Eternal City, where I find myself in this brief moment.
As a foreigner here I am often asked, “Why Rome?”, because how does one go from working in stock markets in South Africa for twenty-four years, to becoming a life coach living in Rome?
The answer is: “because it resonated with me”. I am sure you know that feeling I am talking about, when you have a gut instinct and a deep intuition about which fork in the road to take. It can be easy to ignore this wisdom in favour of logic, and I am really glad I didn’t.
Just a few years ago, I could not have imagined that I would be learning Italian and that my diet would consist almost exclusively of gluten and dairy. In many ways it feels like a million miles from my previous life, but it is a consistent thread of curiosity and self-trust, which has weaved its way through all the twists, turns and decisions I have made.
To make this change a worthwhile process, I had to become my own client and apply to myself all the methodologies I have studied. With awareness of my way of being, I was able to notice the stories I was telling myself, I could challenge my beliefs, I felt and followed my intuition, I was able to cultivate an emotional state that supported the goals I had set for myself. This, coupled with my incredible community of old friends and new, has made it the most fantastic adventure.
The highlight of this whole process is that I have had my Frenchie, Axel, with me. He is a great ambassador for how to enjoy La Dolce Vita: exercise in (absolute) moderation; be open to trying new things — while remembering the things which you know bring you joy; sleep a lot; be kind, and never ever say no to pizza.
So for now, it’s Rome, and who knows where to next. But something which I have started to realize through all of this is that it doesn’t make any difference where you are, if you know who you are.
